Pink Diamond Investment

DSC02540-R_edited.jpg

The main reason why pink diamonds have become such a hot investment piece in the past decade is due to the announcement of the closure of Australian Argyle Mine. Investment mogul Warren Buffett once said that "jewellery is a long-term industry, and it is safe to invest in it." Pink diamonds are not only highly sought-after jewellery, but also an investment piece that is different from the traditional investments such as stocks or gold. In the past 20 years, the investment value of pink diamonds has increased by nearly 500%. In the past 5 years, the investment value of pink diamonds has increased by 10%-15% every year. Not only that, 90% of the pink diamonds on the market are below 0.3ct, so pink diamonds of 1ct and above are extremely rare and make a great investment option. The pink diamond you wear on your hand is comparable to a high-end real estate investment.

According to Sotheby's auction house, 5 of the 10 most expensive diamonds ever sold are pink diamonds. Even the wealthy Liu Luanxiong (Da Liu) is also a pink diamond investor. In 2015, he dropped a 16.08ct pink diamond "Sweet of Josephine" at an auction for 220 million Hong Kong dollars as a gift for his daughter, once again confirming the investment value of pink diamonds.

Due to the scarcity of origin and the production of only 0.0001% of diamonds, coloured diamonds classified as "pink" grades are a dozen times more valuable than white diamonds. According to data from the Fancy Colour Research Foundation (FCRF), between 2005 to 2016, the price of the highest-grade 3-carat pink diamond rose by 379%, blue diamonds of the same category rose 200%, yellow diamonds rose 110%. As for white diamonds they only increased 18.7%, which further highlights the value of investing in pink diamonds.

Fine jewellery is often defined by beauty and weight. The investment services available from Miyagawa Mina’s premium jewellery boutique in Hong Kong help you understand the value of pink diamonds so that you can elevate your jewellery collection and investment portfolio.

Between pink, blue, green and yellow diamonds, pink diamonds have the highest value. Pink diamonds have become the primary choice for jewellery investors to invest in for the past decade. The main reason is that in 2019, the Australian Argyle Mine (ARGYLE), which produced 90% of the world's pink diamonds, announced the closure of the mine.

The number of pink diamonds circulating the market will not increase any more, which makes the investment value even higher. According to industry reports, the value of Fancy Intense, one of the levels of pink diamonds, has increased by as much as 443%. The value of the pink diamond is predicted to rise over time, and as long as the pink diamonds are labelled "Argyle" they are hard to find.
